In 2019-2020 Fondazione Marcegaglia Onlus (FMO) is spearheading a transformative initiative to empower young individuals and combat school dropout rates.The Marcegaglia Vocational Training Center (MVTC) is a technical school by Fondazione Marcegaglia Onlus (FMO) aimed at empowering young individuals and reducing school dropout rates in Rwanda.
The MVTC is located in the Rilima area of the Bugesera district, and it offers training in seven trades: Mechanics , welding, hair dressing, tailoring, multimedia, and masonry.
These skills are essential for self-employment and contribute to the country’s development, aligning with Rwanda’s Vision 2020 and 2050 goals, The MVTC program is part of FMO’s Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVET) initiative, which equips youth from various parts of Bugesera with essential skills
By providing young people with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the workforce, the MVTC program contributes to Rwanda’s development and supports the country’s vision for the future.
The MVTC school is also accredited by Rwanda TVET Board (RTB) in order to provide the short courses mentioned above and certification of the courses.
One shining aspect of FMO’s commitment is their dedication to supporting education beyond TVET. In a bid to nurture talent and academic excellence, FMO extends university scholarships to deserving youth from Bugesera, specifically from Rilima, Nyarugenge, and Shyara. To qualify for these scholarships, students must demonstrate exceptional performance in high school, showcasing their dedication to learning and growth.
Upon meeting the stringent academic criteria, selected students are granted scholarships to pursue higher education at esteemed institutions like AKILA, Ruli Institute of Health, African Leadership University, and others. This opportunity not only opens doors for these young individuals but also serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring them to reach for their dreams and contribute meaningfully to their communities and beyond.
FMO’s holistic approach, encompassing both vocational training and higher education support, is a testament to their commitment to empowering youth, fostering self-reliance, and creating a brighter future for Bugesera and Rwanda as a whole. Through education and skill-building, FMO is sowing the seeds of progress and opportunity, nurturing a generation of young leaders poised to make a positive impact on society.
